Talking Tours, held on Thursday nights and one Saturday a month, are a great way to connect to contemporary art for free. Each tour is designed to provide visitors with the opportunity to discuss, ask questions, and dive deeper into the works on view. Through these tours, our goal is to engage visitors, while expanding their appreciation and understanding of art.

Talking Tours are led by Olivia Leiter, an artist working in video, writing, and installation. As an educator, she is invested in pedagogy that foregrounds listening, attention, and equity. Olivia has exhibited artwork at Human Resources, The California Museum of Photography, The Echo Park Film Center, JOAN and The Fulcrum Press. Outside of MOCA, her gallery-based education experience includes Hauser and Wirth, the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, and the Rose Art Museum in Waltham, MA. Olivia earned a BA in Politics from Brandeis University and MFA from the University of California, Riverside.

Self-Guided Group Visits

Self-Guided Group visits are for groups and classes that would like to experience the museum at their own pace. For more information, call 213/621-1745 or email education@moca.org.

All group reservations–including those for Student and Senior tickets–are available exclusively online.

Book your free MOCA GRAND AVE tickets HERE

General Admission to MOCA Grand Ave is free courtesy of Carolyn Clark Powers.

The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA will reopen on October 23, 2025, with MONUMENTS, a specially ticketed exhibition. Tickets for Students and Seniors are $10.00; check this page for availability.

  • Student Groups: Please use the Student price type for ALL guests (Students and Chaperones)

  • Senior Groups: Please use the Senior price type for ALL guests (Seniors and Staff)

  • We do not offer group discounts for any other groups.

Upon entry, the group leader must present the order confirmation with QR code to the lobby attendant. We require groups of 12+ guests to stagger their entry into the museum and take care not to congregate in galleries or other indoor spaces. For groups of more than 12 people, we kindly ask that you divide your group into smaller subgroups as you move through the galleries.

Backpacks, large bags, and food and drink are never permitted in the galleries. We kindly ask that you leave all backpacks and other bags on the bus if possible. MOCA has limited space to store these belongings.

MOCA Grand Avenue:

  • We will be unable to store food or drink inside the museum galleries. There are outside spaces around the museum with great seating options such as the beautiful fountains to sit around in California Plaza, located just east and south of the museum (near Angel’s Flight Railway).

  • Looking to buy lunch? Lemonade is open during regular museum operation hours, located adjacent to the museum entrance. Additional restaurants are located next door at Cal Marketplace.

The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA:

  • We will be unable to store food or drink inside the museum galleries. Visitors can sit outside and enjoy their meal on the Aileen Getty Plaza.

Looking to buy lunch? Visitors can buy lunch across the street in Little Tokyo. There are multiple food options from pastries to onigiri!
